Afro & Dancehall

Both Afrodance, Afrobeats and Dancehall are derived from the African dances, with Dancehall being a Caribbean dance and music style originally from Jamaica. The rhythms of reggae are still very prominent in the music, and so are the dance movements from the traditions of West Africa. The dances are very modern and current, having been influenced by United States hip hop, the Latin Caribbean dances and the African dances.

Soca, or the "Soul of Calypso" is the South Caribbean equivalent in Trinidad & Tobago, where ethnic inspirations from the East Indies were added to the mix.
